I’m really looking forward to spending the summer here and playing back in the UK. I know that The Hundred is going to be an exciting competition and I can’t wait to start training with my new Southern Brave teammates.”

Joe Root, who’ll be playing alongside Rashid Khan said: “It’s going to be great to have Rashid join us at Trent Bridge next summer. I’ve played against him and I know he’s a fierce competitor and one of the best players in the world – so I have no doubt the competition will really heat up as we go head-to-head with the other teams. It’s going to be a really exciting summer.”

The players announced tonight at The Hundred Draft join the previously selected England red ball contracted and Local Icon players, including Test captain Joe Root and Alex Hales for Trent Rockets, Jofra Archer and James Vince for Southern Brave, Ben Stokes and Adil Rashid for Northern Superchargers and Eoin Morgan and Dan Lawrence for London Spirit.

The final selections in The Hundred Draft are happening live, now, on Sky One and Sky Sports, with extensive coverage across the BBC, and a live stream on thehundred.com and The Hundred Facebook and Instagram. All 96 men’s competition selections will be made by 10pm this evening.

The five-week competition will be played at the height of summer, starting July 2020, featuring eight new city-based teams; Manchester Originals, Northern Superchargers, Trent Rockets, Birmingham Phoenix, Welsh Fire, Southern Brave, London Spirit and Oval Invincibles.
