Six players penalised under ECB Discipline Code

Below is a round-up of Fixed Penalty Directive breaches from June 25 - July 16.

Stuart Whittingham was reported by umpires Martin Saggers and Billy Taylor during Sussex’s Specsavers County Championship match against Nottinghamshire on 25 - 28 June 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Tim Boon, determined that Whittingham had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (bowling a dangerous or unfair short pitched delivery and/or accidental non-pitching delivery that results in the bowler being disallowed from bowling any further in that innings in accordance with Laws 41.6 and 41.7 and Specsavers County Championship Playing Conditions 41.3 and 41.4).

Rory Kleinveldt was reported by umpires Paul Baldwin and Graham Lloyd during Northamptonshire’s Vitality Blast match against Notts Outlaws on 6 July 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Lloyd Tennant, determined that Kleinveldt had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (wilfully mistreating any part of the cricket ground, equipment or implements used in the match).

Dwayne Bravo was reported by umpires James Middlebrook and Nick Cook during Middlesex’s Vitality Blast match against Essex on 6 July 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Dean Cosker, determined that Bravo had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (showing dissent at an umpire’s decision by word or action).

Laurie Evans was reported by umpires Neil Bainton and Ian Blackwell during Sussex’s Vitality Blast match against Glamorgan on 8 July 2018. The Cricket Liaison Officer, Stuart Cummings, determined that Evans had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (any other misconduct, the nature of which is, in the opinion of the umpires, equivalent to a Level 1 offence).

Graham Wagg was reported in the same match. The Cricket Liaison Officer determined that Wagg had committed a Level 1 breach of the Directives (using language that, in the circumstances is, obscene, offensive or insulting)

Aaron Thomason was reported by umpires Nick Cook and Neil Davies during Warwickshire’s Second XI T20 match against Worcestershire on 16 July 2018 for a Level 1 breach of the Directives (wilfully mistreating any part of the cricket ground, equipment or implements used in the match/using language that, in the circumstances is, obscene, offensive or insulting).

The penalty for each of these offences is a reprimand.

These penalties will remain on their records for a period of two years and the accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any two year period will result in an automatic suspension.
