Pope Inspires Lions To 2-1 Series Lead
Ollie Pope scored an enterprisingĀ 93 as the Lions beat Pakistan A by 22 runs in the third 'ODI' to go 2-1 up in the five-match series in the UAE.
Captain Lewis Gregory again won the toss but his side were soon in a spot of bother at 57-4. Pope, alongside first Liam Livingstone and then Gregory himself, saved the tourists and took them to a competitiveĀ total of 245.
Three early wickets in reply - two from Mark Wood - put the Lions in the hunt but Pakistan A skipper Mohammad Rizwan - fresh off 94 in the second 'ODI' - looked in complete control.
Unfortunately for Rizwan, but fortunately for the Lions, with the exception of Adil Amin he was never able to get much company at the other end.
Dom Bess trapped Amin leg-before and then took two more wickets to turn the game in the Lions favour and they went on to win by 22 runs. They'll reconvene at Abu Dhabi for the fourth 'ODI' on December 2.
