New Competition: Pilot Days Confirmed

Timings

ECB will host six pilot days, between 14 and 27 September, as it continues to develop the new competition for 2020. Pilot days with women players will be run at Loughborough on 14, 15 and 27 September. Pilot days with men will be staged at Trent Bridge on 16, 17 and 18 September.

Media Attendance

The media centre at Trent Bridge will be open on Monday 17 September for Wi-Fi, power and limited hot and cold refreshments. Whilst there are no plans for formal media interviews or for player access at these days, ECB and PCA representatives will be available on 17 September only for background conversations.

Players

Players from across the domestic game have been invited to take part and ECB has spoken to all First-Class Counties to offer players from across the game an opportunity to contribute. The list of players cannot be confirmed at this stage.

You will need your ECB media accreditation pass to gain access. Please email ben.walker@ecb.co.uk to confirm your attendance by Friday 15 September.

Evaluation

Across the six days, a number of scenarios and sequences of play will be explored, focused on the 100-ball format. After each day, players will be asked to consider their feedback on three key areas: flow and duration of the game, tactical innovation and player enjoyment. Feedback from the pilot days will form part of ECB’s ongoing development of the new competition. After their conclusion, analysis of the pilot days, alongside a range of wider insight, will help to further develop the format for the new competition.
