​Media Advisory: Media and Training Arrangements: First Specsavers Ashes Test - England v Australia, Edgbaston

Please note the following media and training arrangements ahead of the first Specsavers Ashes Test between England and Australia at Edgbaston.

N.B. Media timings are approximate. Please be in place 30 minutes before advertised timings. Timings are (BST). All media activity is subject to change.

Saturday 27 July

England:

11.00am: England will announce their Test squad via a media statement.

Australia:

The Australian Test squad will travel from Southampton to Birmingham with no formal media activity scheduled.

Sunday 28 July, Birmingham

England:

The England Test squad will travel to Birmingham with no formal media activity scheduled.

Australia:

10.00am: Members of the Australian touring squad will train at Edgbaston. This will be a vision-only opportunity.

2.30pm: Selected members of the touring squad will be available at the team hotel – the Hyatt in Birmingham - for a media interaction.

Monday 29 July, Edgbaston, Birmingham

England:

9.30am-12.30pm: Optional training session at Edgbaston with members of the England Test squad. This will be a vision-only opportunity.

11.00am: Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Ashley Giles, will be available to the media in the media conference room at Edgbaston will preview the series and speak about the ICC World Test Championship

Australia:

12.45pm: Former Australia captain Stephen Waugh will be available to the media in the media conference room at Edgbaston. Stephen, who is with the squad as a mentor, will preview the series and also speak about the launch of the ICC World Test Championship.

1.30pm-4.30pm: Optional training session at Edgbaston with members of the Australian Test squad. This will be a vision-only opportunity.

Tuesday 30 July, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Australia:

9.30am-12.30pm: Australia team practice.

12.30pm: Australia Head Coach Justin Langer will be available to speak to media in the media conference room.

England:

1.30pm-4.30pm: England team practice

12.45pm: A playing member of the England Test squad will be available to speak to media in the media conference room

Wednesday 31 July, Edgbaston, Birmingham

England:

9.30am-12.30pm: England team practice

1.30pm: England men’s Test captain Joe Root will be available to media in the media conference room.

Australia:

1.30pm-4.30pm: Australia team practice

1.00pm: Australia’s men’s Test captain Tim Paine will be available to media in the media conference room.

1.15pm: Both captains will undertake a pre-series photo opportunity with the Ashes urn and the Waterford Crystal trophy.

Thursday August 1-5, Edgbaston, Birmingham

11.00am: First Specsavers Ashes Test, England vs Australia, Edgbaston

Please note all pre/post-practice media conference timings are subject to change and media are advised to be in place at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

All news or film crews wishing to attend practice days or post-match press conferences should inform the ECB Media Operations team prior to arrival and must show on entry a 2019 ECB accreditation or other forms of media ID pass.

All access to TV non-rights holders will be in line with the ECB News Access Code 2019.
