Mandhana leads India to win in series opener at Hove

India Women 232-3 beat England Women 226-7 by 7 wickets

Smriti Mandhana's 91 saw India to victory in the first Royal London International at Hove.

After being asked to bat first, England posted 227 in the first innings thanks in main to Alice Davidson-Richards' maiden ODI half-century. Cameos from Sophie Ecclestone (31), Sophia Dunkley (29) and Charlie Dean (29*) gave Amy Jones's team something to bowl at.

Kate Cross struck early to dismiss Indian opener Shafali Verma, helped by a terrific catch from Dean, but Yastika Bhatia (50), Harmanpreet Kaur (74) and Mandhana took India over the line to go 1-0 up in the Royal London Series.

The two sides now head to Canterbury ahead of the 2nd Royal London International on Wednesday.
