England Women’s captain Heather Knight fell agonisingly short of a second Test century – on the day she made her 100^th appearance as England skipper – as the hosts ended day one of the LV= Insurance Test on 269-6.

Four Indian wickets in the final session saw the visitors wrestle back some momentum to leave the game evenly poised heading into day two.
