Press release -

Kapp, Cross and debutants shine on day one at Taunton

South Africa 284 (England 0-0)

Marizanne Kapp scored a fine hundred and Kate Cross took four wickets on an entertaining first day of the LV= Insurance Test at Taunton.

England - fielding four debutants in the shape of Lauren Bell, Alice Davidson-Richards, Emma Lamb and Issy Wong - won the toss and bowled first, and Heather Knight's side will be happy with their work after bowling out the visitors on day one. There were debut wickets for Bell, Wong and Davidson-Richards, as well as an outstanding catch from Tammy Beaumont.

Beaumont and Lamb will begin England's reply on day two, as England seek four points from the opening game of the multi-format series.
