ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: England beaten by West Indies to exit competition

England Women's ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign ended after a six-wicket defeat against West Indies in their final Group B match in Dubai.

West Indies chased 142 to reach the semi-finals with opening pair Hayley Matthews and Quiana Joseph scoring 67-0 off the powerplay and a combined 102.

England's 141-7 looked competitive at the halfway stage, with Nat Sciver-Brunt's unbeaten 57 from 50 a large contribution.

Captain Heather Knight retired with a tight calf on 21 and did not field.

Joseph and Matthews departed inside two overs, bowled by Sarah Glenn and Sciver-Brunt respectively to give England hope however, Deandra Dottin's 27 from 19 balls saw the West Indies regain momentum.

Head coach Jon Lewis’ post-match press conference is available on the ICC Media Zone.
