Gordon Hollins becomes first Managing Director for County Cricket

ECB has appointed Gordon Hollins to the newly created role of Managing Director, County Cricket to provide a vital focus on the core of domestic cricket.

The announcement was made to the Members of the ECB at a whole-game meeting in London this week where the game’s new strategy for cricket from 2020 to 2024, Inspiring Generations, was shared.

In line with this strategy, Gordon's responsibilities in the newly-created role will include managing the relationship between ECB and the domestic and recreational game.

Hollins was previously ECB’s Chief Operating Officer and, within this, responsible for working with the game to devise the new County Partnership Agreements between ECB and its members over the last 18 months. This work, carried out with support from ECB Board Advisor Derek Brewer, will play a key part in the success of the new strategy.

Commenting on the appointment, Tom Harrison, ECB Chief Executive Officer said:

“Gordon has demonstrated his outstanding leadership abilities over a number of years in the game. Throughout his time both at Durham and ECB, Gordon has continually impressed with his passion and commitment for cricket and especially his love for the county game.

“His appointment to this newly created role is part of ECB’s pledge to protect and grow the domestic game and ensure it can be enjoyed for generations to come. We will do this through partnership and increased support to the counties through the new strategy.”

Gordon Hollins, ECB Managing Director, County Cricket said:

“I am thrilled to take up this position at an exciting time for the county game. There is some excellent work being done by people across the counties and we have a responsibility to help and support them and to ensure that the game continues to grow. We can only do that by working in collaboration with our partners – the 38 counties, Cricket Wales and MCC.”
