England Women level ODI series with victory at Lord’s

England Women (116-2) beat India Women (143-8) by 8 wickets (DLS Method).

England Women levelled the Metro Bank ODI series 1–1 with a convincing victory over India in a rain-affected contest at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Player of the Match Sophie Ecclestone starred with the ball, finishing with figures of 3 for 27. Her spell included three key wickets—most notably India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who was dismissed for seven—as India were restricted to 143.

Torrential rain in North London delayed the start by four hours, reducing the match to 29 overs per side.

England struck early through Em Arlott (2 for 26), who removed opener Pratika Rawal in the second over. Harleen Deoul (16) followed soon after, falling to a sharp caught and bowled by Ecclestone. Smriti Mandhana (42) was the first of two wickets for Linsey Smith (2 for 28), who also dismissed Arundhati Reddy (14) to break up her stand with Deepti Sharma (30).

In reply, England’s chase was built on a strong 54-run opening partnership between Tammy Beaumont (34) and Amy Jones. That solid start allowed captain Nat Sciver-Brunt (21) to combine with Jones and take England past the 100-run mark.

A brief rain interruption in the 18th over reduced the target further under the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern (DLS) method, leaving England needing just 13 runs from 30 balls.

When play resumed, Sciver-Brunt was removed first ball by a peach from Goud, but Sophia Dunkley (9*) calmly guided England to victory alongside the unbeaten Jones (43*).

With the series now tied at 1–1, the decider will take place in Durham on Tuesday 22 July.
