England Women defeat New Zealand in rain affected IT20

England Women secured a 23-run win on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in a rain-curtailed second Vitality IT20 match at Hove to take a 2-0 series lead over New Zealand.

The match was reduced to nine overs per side after a two-hour rain delay.

Alice Capsey hit 28 from 15 balls and Maia Bouchier 23 to help England reach 89-6.

New Zealand lost Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr in the powerplay to slip to 12-2.

Player of the match Charlie Dean dismissed Suzie Bates and Brooke Halliday from one over, while Lauren Bell, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sophie Ecclestone also took wickets before a spell of heavy rain brought a premature end to the contest with the White Ferns ending on 42-5.

The two teams now meet in Canterbury on Thursday for their third of five matches.

Charlie Dean’s post-match media conference is available to download here.
