Press release -
England Lions lose second ODI against India A by 138 runs
Lewis Gregory picked up two wickets and scored 39 runs but couldn’t prevent England Lions from falling to defeat in the second ODI against India A in Trivandrum.
Having been put into bat, India A captain Ajinkya Rahane (91) and man-of-the-match Hanuma Vihari (92) put on 181 for the second wicket after Jamie Porter bowled Anmolpreet Singh in the fifth over.
The Lions contained the run-scoring well in the final 15 overs as India reached 303/6, with Gregory and Zak Chappell picking up two good wickets each and Danny Briggs proving economical once more, conceding just 41 from his 10 overs.
Alex Davies top-scored in the Lions reply with a patient 48 and Gregory provided some lower-order resistance with an array of eye-catching shots but England were bowled out for 165.
The third ODI in the five-match series takes place at the same ground on Sunday.

Quotes
Sam Billings – England Lions captain
“As a team this is a huge test for us against a very experienced, very good India A side. A lot of the guys haven’t played in conditions over here before and it’s a great challenge. For everyone, as a group, it’s a huge learning curve and we have to learn pretty quickly before the third game.
“Vihari and Rahane showed how to bat and their tempo was really nice. I think in the last 15 overs we did really well to keep them to 303. At the start of the innings we weren’t quite on it and they punished us for that.”
