Press release -
Bouchier and Ecclestone star in England Women ODI victory over New Zealand
Maia Bouchier scored her first international century as England Women recorded an eight-wicket victory over New Zealand in their second Metro Bank One Day International at Visit Worcestershire New Road.
Sophie Ecclestone took five wickets as New Zealand were all out for 141.
The win also sees England seal the ODI series with a game to spare.
England bowlers Lauren Filer and Kate Cross struck in the powerplay to leave New Zealand 10-2 dismissing Suzie Bates and Georgia Plimmer.
White Ferns captain Sophie Devine looked dangerous with the bat before Ecclestone saw her stumped for 28.
Amelia Kerr (43) and Maddy Green (30) steadied proceedings for the tourists before the latter was bowled lbw by Charlie Dean. A number of quick wickets followed including from the returning Alice Capsey who had Jess Kerr caught.
Bouchier scored her century from 88 balls with Nat Sciver-Brunt selflessly blocking balls in the closing stages to ensure there were enough runs remaining for Bouchier to reach the milestone.
The final match of the three-game Metro Bank ODI series takes place in Bristol on Wednesday and is followed by five IT20s between the sides.
Maia Bouchier’s post-match media conference is available to watch and download here.
