Press release -
Barnard replaces Overton in Lions squad
The Worcestershire all-rounder Ed Barnard has been called into the England Lions squad for the remainder of their A-team Tri-series against India and West Indies.
Barnard, a 22-year-old who played for England at the 2014 ICC Under-19 World Cup and has been in excellent form for Worcestershire this season, replaces Craig Overton, who has a side injury.
Overton had been called away from the Lions for the first two matches of the Tri-Series to join England's squad for the Royal London ODIs in Durham and Manchester.
But the Somerset bowler was ruled out of today's last match of the series at Emirates Old Trafford with side soreness, and will now return to his county, with a scan due on Monday.
The Lions, who have won their first two matches in the Tri-Series against India A and West Indies A, are practising at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough tomorrow before facing India for a second time at the Fischer County Ground, Leicester on Tuesday.
They then face West Indies A in Northampton on Thursday, needing one more win to guarantee their place in the Tri-Series final at the Kia Oval on Monday week (July 2).
